Ghost of the Dusk
I managed to capture this barn owl image in February 2025 in one of the surrounding fields of my local village. The sun sets quickly this time of year and there is a small window after work to get out with the camera and try get some special shots. This barn owl in particular was very active at the time and was consistently showing itself in this field most nights before the light had totally faded.
I was absoluetly blown away with the results I achieved and was so proud of myself for managing to capture this nocturnal beauty.
Enjoy these barn owl images I managed to capture from this instance.
The King
I was so fortunate enough to be able to capture this gorgeous male kingfisher. It was in January 2025, Me and my dad had travelled to Hertfordshire to try out a Kingfisher hide popular amongst other fellow wildlife photography enthusiasts.
The kingfisher showed himself very frequently throughout the day and it was so amazing to be able to get so close to him under the cover of the hide and get such detailed shots of such an amazing jewel of a bird. Me and my dad absolutely adore kingfishers and I'm so thrilled we were able to enjoy watching them like this together.
Golden in the Snow
What an adventure it was getting these images. Back in March 2025 I decided to take a solo trip to Northern Finland in the hope of capturing images of Golden Eagles in the snow. A purpose built hide deep in the forests near Utajärvi, I waited solo in this hide over the next 4 days. Jays, Woodpeckers and red squirrels and a Wolverine sighting. The sound of the forest kept me company, some days waiting 6 hours for activity.
Once the opportunity comes it's important to keep your composure and excitement under control. No sudden movements of the lens and camera shutters on silent. The Eagle is startled easy and you'd hate to ruin the opportunity for yourself and others.
I had such an amazing time and walked away with hundreds of images. Im hoping for a similar trip in 2026.
Midnight Gaze
While out in Finland in March 2025 for my golden eagle trip. I ran into other fellow photographers, they offered me the opportunity to camp out for the night at another location with the intention of photographing the enormous Eurasian Eagle Owl. With a single spotlight illuminating a small area, it was imperative to have the right settings ready on the camera. The light was challenging but I was over the moon with the results.
I camped out in a camper van with two fellow photographers and we stayed up the night, sometimes taking turns on watch so the others could get a brief kip. The male and female both showed 4/5 times through the night, providing me with another unforgettable experience from my travels in a bitterly cold Finland.
Guardian of the Glen
In June 2025. Me and two other friends decided to hire a car and head up to the highlands for a road trip, calling into Isle of Skye before carrying on further north to Ullapool. Us boys in the evening decided to head down the loch next to the hostel we were staying in and chill for the evening. While sat at on the shore of the loch we were soon greeted by a bachelor herd of red deer. Gathered in the soft evening light at the foothills of the mountains surrounding the loch this herd of deer gathered, calm for now but soon destined to clash when the rutting season returns.
Confident in their numbers they were comfortable to gather close to us boys while we sat and admired these large mammals in their natural habitat in an amazing setting.
